Lumber Heritage Presentation
November 15 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Join the Lumber Heritage Region and the East Lycoming Historical Society for an engaging presentation that traces the dramatic story of Pennsylvania’s forests through the booming lumber era to the devastation of the “Pennsylvania Desert,” and the monumental restoration effort championed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC).
This program will provide an overview of the Lumber Heritage Region and its mission to preserve and celebrate our working forest legacy, with a primary focus on the CCC’s impact—their work, their lives, and their lasting legacy in our landscapes and communities. We’ll also share a few of the LHR’s “Wood on Glass” photographs, offering a striking glimpse into the forests, life, and labor in the lumber camps of the past.
Perfect for history lovers, CCC enthusiasts, and anyone interested in how people and forests shaped each other across generations.
